Swatch watches was introduced to the world in 1983, the design and the style were like no other watch on the market. The quartz watch was produced for its accuracy and the efficiency for the fact that is type of watch needed fewer parts than the other watches. The name Swatch actually comes from the combination of the two words, second and watch not Swiss and watch like many people believed. The Swatch created a whole new fad, everyone had to have a Swatch, and it was the big thing in the 80's. But even a Swatch watch needs a band replaced every so often.
